Who is your target clientele?
People who appreciate high quality and unique products.
What is your process for making a hat for client?
I mostly do custom work and meet with clients by appointment. If clients come to my studio and see something that they like, they can buy it on the spot or I can create a special hat based on the client’s vision and style.
Where do you see your brand in five years?
I see my brand expanding into national markets and high-end boutiques. I’m working on a new Fall line that I plan on shopping to local boutiques.
How do you define your personal style?
My personal style is classic with a modern twist and never over the top. I like to focus on one thing that is bold, usually my lips.
What do you like most about Pittsburgh?
I love sports and feel lucky to be living in a city with so much happening in the arts and culture scene. Pittsburgh has a world-class symphony and opera and is evolving into a world-class city.
What is your advice to business owners and entrepreneurs?
Be patient and pace yourself. Find your niche and your passion. Also, when starting a business, sometimes starting small can be a very good thing because you can get a feel for what works and what doesn’t. Trust yourself, you will know when the time is right to make a big leap.
If you could design a hat for anyone, who would it be?
The obvious answer is Kate Middleton because everyone around the world would see it, but I really want to make a hat for Bruno Mars and also Lady Gaga. They would all wear my hats well.
